Mumbai, Oct 17 : Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is reportedly considering a major reshuffle of ministers belonging to his Shiv Sena faction ahead of the upcoming winter session of the state legislature. Underperforming ministers may be dropped, while younger and more active legislators could be given an opportunity to join the cabinet.
According to political sources, Shinde is dissatisfied with the performance of some ministers who have reportedly failed to meet expectations despite the government completing around two-and-a-half years in office. Discussions are said to be underway within the party on dropping certain ministers and inducting fresh faces into the cabinet.
The proposed reshuffle could also involve the elevation of some ministers of state to cabinet rank. Such changes are expected to affect internal equations within the Shinde-led Shiv Sena and provide greater representation to younger leaders.
Sources indicate that Shinde has been preparing to reorganise his ministerial team after Dussehra, a move described in political circles as a reshuffling of the deck. The exercise is expected to focus on improving administrative efficiency, strengthening the party organisation and maintaining unity within the faction.
With the winter session approaching, the leadership is reportedly keen to accelerate governance and ensure better performance from its ministers. The induction and promotion of younger, energetic legislators could also form part of a broader strategy to prepare the party for upcoming political challenges.
However, no official announcement has been made regarding the proposed cabinet reshuffle. Speculation has nevertheless intensified in political circles, with attention focused on whether Shinde will make significant changes to his ministerial team in the coming days.
