LPG Cylinder Blast in Fatehpur House Collapse Claims Five Lives

FATEHPUR, Sep 29 : The death toll in the LPG cylinder explosion that caused a two-storey house to collapse in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district rose to five on Tuesday after one of the critically injured victims succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

The incident occurred on Monday evening in the Malwa police station area, where an LPG cylinder allegedly exploded inside a house, triggering the collapse of the two-storey structure.

Four people, including two brothers, were killed after being trapped under the debris. Three others were rescued and admitted to a hospital. One of them, identified as Alok, died during treatment on Tuesday morning. The two remaining injured victims are undergoing treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Kunal (17), his brother Kartik (10), Arpit (10), Ved (8) and Alok.

According to police, Suresh alias Dhullar, a resident of Malwa town who runs a fruit shop in the area, lives in the affected house. The LPG cylinder kept inside the house allegedly exploded late Monday evening, causing the building to collapse.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of those killed and Rs 50,000 each for the injured.

District Magistrate Nidhi Gupta handed over the relief cheques to the victims' families on Tuesday.
