One Killed, 25 Injured as Under-Construction Shed Collapses at Raigad Warehouse

Raigad, Oct 13 : One worker was killed and 25 others injured after a massive iron shed under construction at the Kasturi Logistics Warehouse near Mankivali village in Khalapur taluka of Maharashtra's Raigad district collapsed on Tuesday morning.

Several workers were trapped beneath the fallen steel structure, triggering an emergency rescue operation. Some of the injured were reported to be in critical condition, while those seriously injured were shifted to MGM Hospital in Kamothe for specialised treatment.

The incident occurred when workers were erecting the shed and its supporting iron framework at the warehouse. The structure suddenly gave way, producing a loud noise and triggering panic at the construction site.

Following the incident, local villagers and police personnel rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. Workers trapped beneath the heavy steel framework and debris were pulled out, while the injured were provided assistance and shifted to hospitals for treatment.

One worker died on the spot, while 25 others sustained injuries in the collapse.

Meanwhile, the administration has launched a search operation to ascertain whether any additional workers remain trapped beneath the debris. Rescue personnel are examining the site to ensure that no one has been left behind.

Police and the authorities concerned have initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the collapse. Investigators are examining whether the prescribed safety regulations and precautionary measures were followed during construction and whether adequate safeguards were in place for workers involved in erecting the heavy steel structure.
