New Delhi, Sep 12 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended warm greetings to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the people of Israel and Jewish communities across the world on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

In a post on social media platform X, Modi said, “Shana Tova! Wishing a very happy Rosh Hashanah to Prime Minister Netanyahu, the people of Israel and Jewish communities across the globe.”

“May the new year be filled with peace, hope, good health and continued progress for all,” he added.

In a separate message, the Prime Minister reiterated his greetings, wishing Netanyahu, the people of Israel and Jewish communities worldwide a “happy and joyful year.”

“May the new year bring with it peace, hope, good health, and progress for all,” Modi said.

Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the Jewish High Holy Days and is observed with prayers, reflection and expressions of hope for peace, prosperity and renewal in the year ahead.

Modi’s greetings came against the backdrop of India’s expanding strategic partnership with Israel, covering areas including defence and security, trade, agriculture, water management, technology, innovation and people-to-people ties.

India has consistently called for peace and stability in West Asia and advocated dialogue and diplomacy to address regional conflicts.

India and Israel established full diplomatic relations in 1992, and bilateral ties have since evolved into a broad-based strategic partnership. Modi and Netanyahu have maintained close engagement, with the two leaders holding regular discussions on bilateral cooperation and developments in West Asia.

The Prime Minister’s Rosh Hashanah message underscored the importance India attaches to its relationship with Israel while conveying a broader message of peace, hope and goodwill to Jewish communities around the world.
