Nagpur, Oct 22 : BJP MLA and former Maharashtra minister Parinay Fuke on Thursday took a swipe at Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, claiming that he would not even step out of his house if his police security cover were withdrawn.

Fuke alleged that Thackeray was making bold statements about “regime change” and criticising the BJP-led government because of the security provided to him by Maharashtra Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

“Despite not holding any constitutional post, Raj Thackeray is making such remarks against the BJP because of the security provided to him by Chief Minister and Home Minister Fadnavis,” Fuke alleged.

Reacting sharply to the BJP MLA’s remarks, MNS leader Avinash Jadhav challenged Fuke to withdraw Thackeray’s security cover if he had the courage to do so.

Jadhav also referred to an alleged family dispute involving Fuke, claiming that the matter had been brought before Raj Thackeray a few months ago. According to Jadhav, Thackeray had asked him to meet Fuke but maintained that the party should not interfere in family disputes.

“If we had intervened at that time, Parinay Fuke would have had no place left in Maharashtra to show his face,” Jadhav retorted.

Issuing a further challenge to the BJP MLA, Jadhav said, “If you have the courage, just try to withdraw Saheb’s police security cover. Then we will see how you, too, move around in Maharashtra.”

The exchange has triggered a fresh war of words between the BJP and the MNS amid the ongoing political debate in Maharashtra over Raj Thackeray’s remarks on regime change and the state’s prevailing political situation.
