Three youths killed, one critically injured in motorcycle collision in Gondia

GONDIA, Oct 1 : Three youths were killed on the spot and another sustained critical injuries after two motorcycles collided head-on on the Gondia-Goregaon road in Maharashtra's Gondia district shortly after midnight on Thursday, police said.
The accident occurred between Hirdamali and Miltoli villages when the two motorcycles collided with great force, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
The deceased were identified as Piyush Yogesh Barewar (28), a resident of Goregaon, and Manoj Kuranjekar (27) and Vinay Kohare (28), both residents of Soni village in Goregaon taluka.
According to preliminary information, Piyush and his friends had travelled to Gondia to watch the Ganesh immersion processions and were returning to Goregaon late at night when the accident occurred.
The injured youth was rushed to a private hospital in Gondia and is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. His condition is reported to be critical.
Local residents alerted the police and helped in the rescue efforts. Gondia Rural Police reached the spot, sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and launched an investigation.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Police are examining the possibility of overspeeding and loss of control.
