23-Year-Old Delhi Police Recruitment Candidate Dies During Physical Test

NEW DELHI, SEPT 21: A 23-year-old man died after collapsing during a race held as part of the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PEMT) for Delhi Police recruitment at the Delhi Police Academy in Wazirabad on Monday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Saurabh Kumar, a resident of Anupshahr in Uttar Pradesh. According to police, Kumar was among the candidates participating in the ongoing physical test when he suddenly collapsed on the track while running.
Police received information about the incident at around 11.11 am, after Kumar was taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital in a PCR vehicle from the academy. He was provided immediate medical assistance at the test venue before being shifted to the hospital's emergency department.
However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead, police said.
Following the incident, Kumar's body was sent to GTB Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police said the autopsy would help establish the precise cause of death.
An inquest proceeding under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been initiated at Sonia Vihar police station, officials said.
