Goa Police Register Unnatural Death Case, Probe Nana Patekar’s Demise

Panaji, Oct 9 : Goa Police have initiated an investigation into the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar after registering an unnatural death case to ascertain the exact circumstances and medical cause of his demise.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which provides for police inquiries into deaths occurring under circumstances that warrant official examination.

Patekar, 75, was reportedly taken from his residence in the Dona Paula area of Goa to Manipal Hospital in Bambolim after his health deteriorated in the early hours of Thursday. However, doctors declared him dead after attempts to revive him failed.

According to preliminary reports, the actor had complained of discomfort and pain on the left side of his chest. He reportedly sent a message to a friend at around 2.30 am, informing him that he was unwell.

The friend is said to have reached Patekar’s residence at around 4 am, following which medical assistance was sought.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to establish the exact cause of death.
