NASHIK, Oct 12 : Preparations for the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 are progressing as planned, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is satisfied with the ongoing work, Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) Commissioner Manisha Khatri said on Monday.
Dismissing reports suggesting that the Chief Minister was unhappy with the pace of preparations, Khatri said there appeared to be a misunderstanding. “No one is upset, and the work is progressing very well,” she clarified in a statement.
Fadnavis visited Nashik on Sunday to attend the Sarpanch Parishad and subsequently inspected several development projects related to the upcoming Kumbh Mela. He also reviewed the progress of works in Trimbakeshwar before concluding his tour.
During the inspections, the Chief Minister assessed the quality of construction, the pace of implementation and compliance with technical standards. He directed officials to maintain construction quality, expedite the execution of projects and ensure that all works were completed within their stipulated deadlines.
Khatri said the administration was committed to ensuring that all essential infrastructure and facilities were ready ahead of the 2027 religious gathering. However, she clarified that not every development project was required to be completed before the flag-hoisting ceremony, as the deadlines for some projects extended into the Kumbh Mela period.
Referring to the previous Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik, the Commissioner noted that development works had been completed in phases, with some ghat-related projects finished only two to three months before the event.
Meanwhile, speculation has intensified over the possible attendance of the President of India at the flag-hoisting ceremony. Although the President's participation had been widely discussed, recent indications suggest that the President may not attend the event. An official confirmation regarding the participation of the President and other dignitaries is still awaited.
The administration has reiterated its commitment to completing all essential infrastructure projects and ensuring adequate facilities for pilgrims before the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027.
