Pune, September 7: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule on Monday urged the Maharashtra government to immediately hold talks with students preparing for Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations and address their concerns over alleged question paper leaks.

Sule participated in a protest march by MPSC aspirants in Pune and said the students were ready for dialogue but questioned who from the government would come forward to meet them.

“Students are ready to discuss their concerns. But who is coming from the government to talk to them? They should be studying, securing jobs and serving the country. Unfortunately, they are being forced to take to the streets. This is a failure of the government,” Sule said.

She appealed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to depute a senior and responsible representative to meet the protesting students and work towards resolving their concerns at the earliest.

A large number of MPSC aspirants, including many women, took part in the Pune protest. The students have also demanded the resignation of the commission’s chairman and secretary, alleging that repeated incidents of paper leaks have eroded their confidence in the examination system.

Sule said modern technology and artificial intelligence should be effectively used to prevent question paper leaks.

“I do not understand why technology is not being used. Examinations are conducted across the world and in India as well. If question papers are not leaked in many other examinations, why does it happen in this examination? With so much technology and AI available, something can certainly be done. I do not believe that paper leaks cannot be stopped,” she said.

The NCP MP also urged the state government to take note of the growing anger among students, saying the large turnout at the Pune protest reflected the seriousness of their concerns.

“Students have repeatedly demanded the resignation of the chairman and secretary. The government should consider their demand,” Sule said.

She alleged that various sections of society, including farmers, women and youth, were protesting across Maharashtra and urged the government to address their grievances through dialogue rather than allowing people to remain on the streets.

Sule called upon Chief Minister Fadnavis to personally take cognisance of the MPSC aspirants’ concerns and ensure an early and credible resolution.
