Mumbai, Oct 22 : Mumbai Police are investigating the alleged preparations leading up to the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff's residence on October 18, with the accused reportedly having test-fired the weapons at two locations before the attack.
According to police sources, the suspects allegedly practised firing at a location near Mumbai. One of them reportedly fired two rounds, while another discharged one round during the exercise.
Investigators have also found that the firearm allegedly malfunctioned when the accused tested it inside a hotel room in Andheri. A bullet reportedly struck the bed, and the accused later identified the spot during questioning, sources said.
During a court hearing on Wednesday, police informed the court that five more people had been arrested in Haryana and Delhi in connection with the case. The three men and two women were being brought to Mumbai for further investigation, the prosecution reportedly told the court.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roushan said two of the recently arrested male accused had allegedly travelled to Amritsar to procure firearms. They subsequently transported the weapons to Mumbai by train, he said.
According to police, two women allegedly acted as couriers, carrying the firearms to Mumbai and handing them over to the individuals who carried out the firing. Another male accused is suspected of arranging logistical support for the shooters.
Police are examining the sequence of events leading up to the attack, including the alleged procurement of firearms, their transportation to Mumbai and the roles played by each accused.
