Ashoka Targets DK Shivakumar Over 100-Day Milestone, Calls Congress Govt a ‘U-Turn Government’

Bengaluru, Sept 11 : Karnataka Leader of Opposition R Ashoka on Friday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, turning the Congress government's 100-day milestone into a political controversy and questioning its achievements.

Mocking the 100-day celebrations, Ashoka asked whether the government's biggest achievement was the "wicket" of former minister B Nagendra, who resigned amid allegations related to the Valmiki Corporation financial scandal.

"Why are they celebrating 100 days? Because Nagendra's wicket has fallen," Ashoka told reporters, claiming that pressure from the BJP and JD(S) contributed to Nagendra's resignation.

Ashoka described Shivakumar's 100 days as a "flop show" and accused the Congress government of being a "U-turn government", alleging that it repeatedly changed its position on key issues.

He cited the proposed tunnel road, Lalbagh, Gruha Lakshmi, Brand Bengaluru, garbage management and pothole-related measures as examples of decisions that, he alleged, were announced and subsequently modified or reversed.

Questioning the government's development record, Ashoka challenged Shivakumar to identify major irrigation and road projects initiated during the first 100 days and specifically sought an update on the proposed Mekedatu project.

"Tell me in 100 days what you've done? Any irrigation project in Karnataka? Any major road in Karnataka? Any Mekedatu? No! Nothing!" he said.

Ashoka also criticised the government's handling of Bengaluru's infrastructure challenges, including garbage disposal and potholes, and questioned the direction of its Brand Bengaluru initiatives.

In a personal attack, he accused Shivakumar of behaving like a "real estate mafia" rather than focusing on development and governance.

The BJP leader's remarks came as the Congress government highlighted Shivakumar's completion of 100 days as a milestone. Shivakumar assumed charge as Chief Minister on June 3 following prolonged deliberations within the Congress over the Karnataka leadership issue.
