Panchkula, Oct 23 : Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij on Friday appealed to striking electricity employees and engineers to call off their agitation and resume duty, assuring them that the state government was ready to explore all possible options to resolve the dispute, including action under Section 108 of the Electricity Act, 2003.

The appeal came amid a three-day statewide strike by power employees and engineers protesting the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission's (HERC) decision to grant a parallel electricity distribution licence to a private company for Gurugram and Nuh districts.

In a post on social media platform X, Vij said the government remained open to negotiations and was willing to consider legal and administrative measures to address the concerns raised by the employees.

"I appeal to Haryana employees who have gone on strike to end their agitation and return to duty. We are ready to discuss all options, including action under Section 108 of the Electricity Act, 2003," Vij said.

The minister's statement comes as the statewide strike continues to disrupt the normal functioning of the power sector, with employees opposing the move to allow a private company to distribute electricity in the two districts.
