Mumbai, Sep 24 : Actor Ayushmann Khurrana is set to explore two distinctly different cinematic worlds with his upcoming films, moving from a spy comedy with a patriotic backdrop to a musical family drama.
Khurrana will first be seen alongside Sara Ali Khan in “Udta Teer”, directed by Aakash Kaushik. Backed by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, the film is set against the world of espionage and blends high-stakes patriotic action with comedy. Khurrana plays a central character in the film's unpredictable narrative.
He will next feature in Sooraj Barjatya's “Yeh Prem Mol Liya”, opposite Sharvari Wagh. The musical family drama marks Khurrana's first collaboration with Barjatya and also brings him together with Wagh for the first time. The film explores themes of family, love and relationships, with music composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
Speaking about his choice of roles, Khurrana said that since his debut, he has wanted to surprise audiences and challenge himself as an actor rather than restrict himself to a particular image or genre.
From social comedies and romantic films to intense dramas, action, patriotic comedy and musical family stories, the actor said each project gives him an opportunity to explore a new emotion and a different facet of his personality.
According to Khurrana, “Udta Teer” and “Yeh Prem Mol Liya” offer completely contrasting experiences, and it was this difference that attracted him to both projects. While one takes him into a world of humour and patriotism, the other is rooted in the warmth, emotions and music of a family drama.
With the two films, Khurrana's filmography is set to expand further across genres. The actor said that for him, versatility is not merely about switching genres, but about discovering the truth of each character and creating a fresh emotional experience for audiences.
