NASHIK, SEPT 17: In an unusual and innovative exercise, a newly constructed house in Yeola taluka of Nashik district is being shifted to another location instead of being demolished to make way for road widening.
The house, located near the factory of Yeola-based entrepreneur Samrat Verma, was obstructing the road expansion work. Rather than demolishing the newly built structure and incurring a substantial financial loss, Verma decided to relocate the entire house while preserving the property and its emotional value.
Experts in house-shifting technology have been brought in from Kurukshetra in Haryana to undertake the challenging operation. The house is being lifted from its foundation with the help of around 250 hydraulic jacks and is being moved to a new location by a team of 10 workers.
The relocation process is expected to take about a month.
The initiative is being described as the first experiment of its kind in Nashik district involving the shifting of an entire house. The use of modern technology to save the structure from demolition has attracted considerable attention and appreciation from local residents.
