Karimnagar, Sep 5: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Saturday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that the Congress government had failed to fulfil its electoral promises to the state’s youth and students.

Addressing a gathering in Karimnagar, KTR referred to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign and urged him to visit Telangana to hear the concerns of students.

“Rahul Gandhi is changing colours from state to state. You are talking about ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ across India. I demand that you come to Telangana and listen to the problems of our students. You will hear the real ‘Goonj’ of students here,” KTR said.

KTR questioned the Congress over its promise to provide two lakh jobs every year in Telangana, alleging that the government had failed to adequately address the concerns of unemployed youth.

“If you do not come, we will come to Delhi,” he warned.

Referring to recent youth protests in Delhi, KTR said young people had compelled the Centre to take note of their concerns and asserted that Telangana youth too would not hesitate to raise their voice.

He challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to face the youth and the BRS in the Assembly and answer questions on the government’s alleged failure to implement its promises.

KTR sought clarity on the status of the promised job calendar, Youth Commission, unemployment allowance, youth loans, fee reimbursement and reservations for local youth in private-sector employment.

He alleged that the Congress’ earlier ‘Youth Declaration’ had now been replaced by what he termed a “Boothu Calendar”, claiming that Telangana had witnessed a “scam calendar” instead of the promised job calendar.

Responding to demands for BRS supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s (KCR) resignation, KTR said there was no question of KCR stepping down, citing his role in the movement for Telangana statehood.

“For their 420 unfulfilled promises, Revanth Reddy and Congress leaders should resign 420 times,” he said.

KTR warned that the Congress government would face a political backlash over what he described as its failure to fulfil commitments made to Telangana’s youth and students.
