NEW DELHI, Sep 16 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated veteran actor Anant Nag on being conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, describing the honour as a richly deserved recognition of an artiste whose remarkable body of work has left an enduring imprint on Indian cinema, particularly Kannada cinema.
In a post on social media platform X, Mr Modi lauded Mr Nag's decades-long contribution to the film industry and highlighted his versatility, effortless performances and ability to bring depth and authenticity to every character.
“Congratulations to the legendary Anant Nag Ji on being conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award,” the Prime Minister said.
“For several decades, his effortless performances, remarkable versatility and brilliance have left a very strong mark on Indian cinema, particularly Kannada cinema. In whichever role he has played, he brought rare depth and authenticity,” he added.
Calling the recognition a fitting tribute to the veteran actor's distinguished career, Mr Modi said the honour was “indeed a richly deserved” recognition for a distinguished artiste.
