Three Killed as Speeding Car Collides with Truck on Yamuna Kulhal Bridge

Nahan, Oct 4 : Three young men were killed after a speeding car collided with a truck on the Yamuna Kulhal Bridge, connecting Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, late Saturday night.

According to police, the car was travelling towards Paonta Sahib when it crashed into the truck on the bridge over the Yamuna River. The impact severely damaged the car, trapping the occupants inside.

On receiving information about the accident, a team of Paonta Sahib police reached the spot. With the help of local residents, the trapped men were pulled out of the mangled vehicle and rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

The deceased were identified as Tarsem Singh (32), son of Attar Singh and a resident of Shillai in Sirmaur district; Amit Kumar (37), son of Mahakar Singh, a resident of Shanti Nagar, Bhopa Road, New Mandi, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh; and Sonu, son of Vedpal Singh, a resident of Nagla Hukam Singh, Greater Noida, Delhi.

The accident caused traffic disruption and chaos on the bridge for some time.

Police said the bodies would be subjected to post-mortem examination at Civil Hospital, Paonta Sahib, on Sunday, following which they would be handed over to the respective families for the last rites.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of law, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Police are also investigating the role of the truck involved in the collision.

Sirmaur Superintendent of Police Nischint Singh Negi confirmed that three persons were killed in the accident on the Yamuna Kulhal Bridge.
