Eight Killed, Four Injured in SUV-Truck Collision in Maharashtra’s Bhandara

Bhandara, Sep 11 : Eight people, including three children, were killed and four others injured after an SUV carrying labourers and their family members collided with a truck on the Nagpur-Raipur National Highway in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district early Friday, police said.
The accident occurred near Pimpalgaon village in Lakhani tehsil when the SUV crashed into the truck, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. Eight occupants of the SUV died on the spot due to the impact, while four injured passengers were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital.
The victims were reportedly residents of Chhattisgarh and were travelling in search of work when the accident occurred.
Rescue personnel, highway police and local residents reached the spot and launched relief operations. The injured were subsequently shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Bhandara for further treatment.
According to preliminary findings, the SUV is suspected to have rammed into the truck from behind. However, the exact cause of the collision is yet to be ascertained.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Further details, including the identities of the deceased and the circumstances leading to the accident, are awaited.
