Mumbai, Oct 23 : Actress Rasika Dugal has emphasised the need for more films made specifically for children, saying cinema should not only entertain young audiences but also encourage their curiosity, imagination and understanding of the world.

Ahead of the release of her upcoming film Little Thomas, Dugal said children's cinema should feature stories that engage young minds, entertain them and inspire them to explore the world around them.

Directed by Kaushal Ojha, Little Thomas revolves around a curious child who wants to discover where babies come from and dreams of having a brother or sister. Dugal, 41, plays the character of Jessie Miranda in the film.

Highlighting the importance of children's films, the Mirzapur actress said cinema is a powerful medium that broadens people's perspectives and gives wings to their imagination. She noted that many ideas and thoughts people develop as adults are influenced by the films they watched during childhood.

"Cinema is a wonderful medium that expands our world and gives new wings to our imaginations. Many of the ideas and thoughts we have as adults originate in the films we saw as children. Therefore, we need films that children can relate to and that understand and foster their curiosity, rather than ignoring it," she said.

Dugal added that children's films can be entertaining while also communicating meaningful messages without becoming preachy.

She expressed hope that more filmmakers would come forward to create engaging stories for children that stimulate their curiosity and open up new possibilities for their imagination.
