Mumbai, Oct 9 Actor Sanjay Kapoor and his wife Maheep Kapoor have said that their daughter Shanaya Kapoor’s interest in acting developed gradually as she grew up in a film-oriented family.

During a conversation on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s show Double Date, the couple revealed that Shanaya did not make a sudden decision to pursue acting. Instead, her fascination with the film industry grew through childhood experiences and exposure to the world of cinema.

Sanjay said the family had long been aware of Shanaya’s inclination towards acting and highlighted her dedication to improving her skills. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, she continued training in belly dancing and worked on her pronunciation and dialogue delivery.

Recalling an incident from Shanaya’s childhood, Maheep said she noticed her daughter’s fascination with the film industry during the premiere of the film Saawariya. Shanaya was very young at the time and was excitedly prancing around in a lehenga, an experience that made her interest in the glamorous world of cinema apparent.

Sanjay also revealed that Shanaya idolised her cousin Sonam Kapoor, whose journey in the film industry inspired her. He added that Shanaya had closely followed his own career and understood that the acting profession involved both successes and setbacks.

The couple emphasised that Shanaya’s decision to pursue acting was not triggered by a single incident but evolved over time through her family’s involvement in cinema and her experiences growing up in the film world.
