CHENNAI, SEPT 24: Seven people, including two school teachers and a Class 2 student, were killed and four others injured in two separate road accidents in Perambalur and Krishnagiri districts of Tamil Nadu, police said.

In the first accident, four people were killed and four others injured when a car rammed into an omnibus on the National Highway in Perambalur during the early hours of Thursday.

The victims were reportedly returning to Chennai after attending a marriage in Ramanathapuram district. Preliminary reports suggested that the car was travelling at high speed when its driver lost control and crashed into the omnibus.

Four occupants of the car died on the spot. Four others, including women, sustained injuries and were shifted to the Perambalur Government Hospital for treatment. Police and fire service personnel recovered the bodies from the mangled vehicle and sent them for post-mortem examination.

In the second accident, three people, including two school teachers and a seven-year-old Class 2 student, were killed when the scooter they were travelling on was hit by a stone-laden truck near Veppanapalli in Krishnagiri district on Wednesday evening.

The deceased were identified as Muskan Gaus Sheikh (28), a Hindi teacher at a private matriculation school in the V. Mathepalli area, her seven-year-old son Furqan, a Class 2 student at the same school, and Sudharani (40), a social science teacher from Krishnagiri.

According to reports, the three were returning home from school when the truck allegedly hit their two-wheeler from behind. They fell onto the road and came under the wheels of the truck, dying on the spot.

Veppanapalli police reached the scene and shifted the bodies to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The truck driver fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle. Police have launched a search to trace and apprehend him.
