New Delhi, Oct 30 : The BJP on Friday rejected Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegation that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was attempting to prevent people from reaching Delhi for the INDIA bloc's November 1 rally, demanding that he produce evidence to substantiate his claim.
Addressing mediapersons, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra urged Gandhi to stop misleading the public with what he described as false allegations.
"Who has been stopped and where? Show proof," Patra asked, challenging the Congress leader to provide evidence for his allegations.
Patra also claimed that the INDIA bloc had postponed its planned "public impeachment" of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, scheduled for Friday, due to its failure to make the necessary arrangements.
Alleging a lack of unity and organisational capability among opposition parties, the BJP MP said these shortcomings had forced them to defer what he termed a "mock parliament".
Earlier, Gandhi had accused Shah of "trying his best" to prevent people from reaching Delhi to participate in the opposition rally scheduled to be held at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.
