Bengaluru, Sept 12 : BJP Karnataka president B Y Vijayendra on Saturday asserted that the party’s return to power in the state in the 2028 Assembly elections was inevitable, declaring that “nobody can stop” the BJP from forming the government.

Addressing a Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebration at the BJP state headquarters here, Vijayendra launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing it of minority appeasement, failure to fulfil its poll guarantees and neglect of farmers, youth and backward communities.

“Nobody can stop the BJP from coming to power next time,” he said, while dismissing Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s reported aspirations of returning as Chief Minister after the 2028 elections.

Vijayendra alleged that the Congress had realised it could not remain in power without its five guarantee schemes and was now attempting to create a political narrative through “Bharat Jodo” groups. He accused the ruling party of misleading the people and said the BJP remained committed to the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”

Targeting the Congress over alleged minority appeasement, Vijayendra claimed that the ruling party was willing to go to any extent to secure the support of a particular community for electoral gains.

“While the BJP wants to take the country forward by bringing everyone together, the Congress is trying to appease one community for votes,” he said.

Vijayendra also highlighted what he described as the BJP’s record of working for backward communities, referring to initiatives undertaken during the tenure of former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and welfare measures implemented by the Narendra Modi government.

He said the BJP would take up the demands of the Golla community, including greater political representation and opportunities for its social, educational and economic advancement.

The BJP state president further accused the Congress government of giving priority to projects such as the tunnel road, Bidadi township and the proposed airport at Kanakapura while allegedly neglecting the interests of farmers and the poor.

He also questioned the government’s failure to fill vacancies despite announcing financial assistance for youth organisations, and alleged that gambling and drug networks were expanding across the state.

Vijayendra claimed that the BJP’s recent padayatra had received an “unprecedented” response and accused the Congress of betraying the people in the name of its five guarantee schemes.

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, BJP MLA and former Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan, Legislative Council Chief Whip Ravikumar and other party leaders were present on the occasion.
