Bengaluru, Sept 17: Amid allegations of large-scale corruption in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), a delegation of Congress leaders on Thursday urged Chief Minister D K Shivakumar to cancel the recruitment process facing allegations and undertake a comprehensive overhaul of the commission.

The delegation met Shivakumar and submitted a memorandum seeking immediate corrective measures to address alleged irregularities in the KPSC recruitment process and protect the interests of candidates.

The leaders demanded that the recruitment process under a cloud of suspicion be scrapped, stating that continuing it could affect the credibility of appointments made through the commission.

They also urged the Chief Minister to introduce rules, regulations and examination procedures followed by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the KPSC to ensure greater transparency, accountability and credibility in government recruitment.

The memorandum called for comprehensive reforms in the functioning of the KPSC, including stronger safeguards in examinations and selection procedures to prevent malpractice and irregularities.

The Congress leaders said foolproof and transparent recruitment procedures were necessary to ensure that appointments to government posts were based on merit and that candidates were protected from unfair practices.

They further urged Shivakumar to take personal initiative to overhaul the commission and establish a recruitment mechanism on the lines of the UPSC.

The delegation requested the Chief Minister to examine their demands and initiate appropriate action at the earliest.
