Congress Member Dastagir Kaladagi Unanimously Elected Kolhar Town Panchayat President

Kolhar: Congress member from Ward 15, Dastagir Maktumsab Kaladagi, was unanimously elected president of the Kolhar Town Panchayat in the election held on Monday.

The election was conducted to fill the post for the remainder of the term following the resignation of former president Chanamallappa Giddappagol. Tahsildar Santosh Mageri served as the election officer, while Town Panchayat Chief Officer Veeresh Hatti was present.

Dastagir Kaladagi and Yasmeenabanu Maibusab Kaladagi, a member from Ward 10, had filed nominations for the president’s post. However, during the withdrawal period, Yasmeenabanu withdrew her nomination, following which the election officer declared Dastagir Kaladagi elected unopposed.

The Town Panchayat has a total of 17 members, but currently has 16 members following the death of one member. MLA Shivanand Patil and MP Ramesh Jigajinagi, who are entitled to vote in the election, were not present during the proceedings. Members from Wards 11 and 13 were also absent.

Victory Celebrations with BJP Leaders

Following his election as president, Dastagir Kaladagi took part in victory celebrations along with BJP district leader Mallikarjun Bellubbi and BJP workers. The participation of BJP leaders in the celebrations held after the election of a Congress member as president attracted attention in local political circles.

Although several names had been discussed for the president’s post ahead of the election, Dastagir Kaladagi’s unopposed election has generated interest locally. The withdrawal of the rival nomination, the absence of some members and the subsequent victory celebrations have become topics of discussion in local political circles.

However, no official political statements have so far been issued regarding the developments.
