Over 300 Cartoons by 110 Maharashtra Cartoonists Displayed at Pune Festival

PUNE, SEP 21: An exhibition featuring more than 300 cartoons drawn by over 110 cartoonists from across Maharashtra was inaugurated at the Balgandharva Art Gallery here as part of the 38th Pune Festival.
Organised by the Cartoonist Cafe Club, an organisation of cartoonists from Maharashtra, the exhibition showcases cartoons measuring 12x18 inches and covering a wide range of social and contemporary issues.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Nilesh Khare, Chief Editor of the Sakal Media Group, who marked the occasion by drawing a picture of Lord Ganesha.
Senior Mumbai-based cartoonist Sanjay Mistry and Loksatta cartoonist Prashant Kulkarni were present as guests.
Pune Festival president Krishnakumar Goel welcomed the guests and participating cartoonists. He said the lines drawn by cartoonists play an important role in keeping those in power and political leaders under public scrutiny.
