Bengaluru, Oct 23 : Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk met Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar here on Friday, leading a delegation of around 100 business leaders to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation between Poland and Karnataka, particularly in technology and other high-growth sectors.

The meeting assumes significance as Poland seeks to deepen its economic engagement with India, while Karnataka's robust information technology ecosystem offers considerable potential for collaboration in information technology, communications, space technology and industrial innovation.

Home Minister Priyank Kharge and other Cabinet ministers were also present at the meeting.

Earlier, Poland's Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domanski highlighted the scope for expanding bilateral trade and business cooperation. He pointed to the participation of representatives from Poland's information technology and space industries in the delegation accompanying Tusk.

The delegation's visit to Bengaluru aims to strengthen engagement with India's information and communications technology (ICT) sector and identify opportunities for Polish companies to collaborate with Indian businesses.

Domanski said the delegation had held important discussions with Indian political leaders and business representatives, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Indian companies.

Economic relations between India and Poland have witnessed significant growth, with bilateral trade increasing by 192 per cent from USD 1.95 billion in 2013 to USD 6.36 billion in 2025. The trade balance has largely remained in India's favour.

India's major exports to Poland include textiles and apparel, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, electronic machinery, engineering goods, vehicles, rubber and mineral fuels.

India imports machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment, mineral fuels, precious metals and stones, precision and medical instruments, and aerospace-related products from Poland.

Tusk's visit offers Karnataka an opportunity to strengthen business ties with Poland and explore mutually beneficial partnerships in technology, advanced industries and innovation.
