Trump Lashes Out at Nobel Committee After Losing Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, Claims He Settled Eight Wars

Washington, Oct 10 : US President Donald Trump has strongly criticised the Nobel Committee after failing to win the Nobel Peace Prize again, claiming that he deserved the honour for his role in resolving multiple international conflicts.

In a nearly 600-word post on his Truth Social platform, published shortly before midnight on Friday, Trump questioned the credentials of this year's laureate, Navi Pillay, and accused her of opposing Israel.

“I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anyone else!” Trump wrote, adding that he did not know what she had done to deserve the award.

Pillay, an Indian-origin jurist and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, was honoured for her efforts to promote peace and international law. She has also chaired the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Responding to the award, Pillay said world leaders had a “legal obligation to protect human rights and refrain from war”.

Trump claimed he had settled eight wars and was close to resolving two more, referring to conflicts involving Iran and Russia's war against Ukraine.

“I settled 8 Wars, with letters being sent from every President and Prime Minister from the countries that I helped to the Norwegian Nobel Committee,” he wrote.

He specifically cited the India-Pakistan conflict, arguing that his efforts to resolve the dispute alone should have been sufficient to earn him the prestigious award.

“In actuality, I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1,” Trump said.

The US President also criticised the United Nations, claiming the organisation had played no role in resolving the conflicts he cited.

“In all of the Wars that I have settled, I never spoke to the United Nations—they were of no help,” he wrote, arguing that the United States, represented by him, should have received the honour.

Trump also directed his criticism at Norway over the decision, although the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the independent Norwegian Nobel Committee rather than the Norwegian government.

“This is an indelible stain on Norway, one that will never be forgotten,” he wrote, describing the prize as “forever discredited” by what he called “Radical Ideologues who are Anti-Democracy, and Enemies of Civilization”.

The remarks mark another public expression of Trump's frustration over missing out on the Nobel Peace Prize, which recognises contributions to peace and international cooperation.
