Varanasi, Oct 24 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi for a four-hour programme on Sunday, during which he will inaugurate a new garment manufacturing facility of Arvind Limited and witness an Indian Air Force (IAF) aerial display at Namo Ghat.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have already arrived in Kashi ahead of the Prime Minister's visit. Modi is scheduled to reach Varanasi at around 1030 hrs and depart for Odisha at 1430 hrs.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has planned an elaborate welcome for the Prime Minister, who will be greeted at eight key locations between the Police Lines and Namo Ghat with conch shell blowing, damru playing, drum beats and showers of flowers. Young people, including members of Gen-Z, will also participate in the welcome programme.
BJP Kashi region in-charge Ramesh Singh said the city was being decorated for the visit and party functionaries from booth to regional levels had been assigned responsibilities.
During the visit, Modi will inaugurate Arvind Limited's new garment manufacturing facility in Varanasi. The facility is expected to strengthen India's textile and apparel manufacturing ecosystem and boost industrial growth in the region.
The modern manufacturing unit is expected to generate employment opportunities, particularly for women, and contribute to the local economy. With a global customer base, the facility will enable garments manufactured in Varanasi to reach international markets. The initiative, which will have a predominantly women-led workforce, also reflects the vision of women-led development.
The Prime Minister will also witness the Air Force Day Aerial Display-2026 at Namo Ghat, organised to commemorate the 94th anniversary of the Indian Air Force under the theme "Wings over Ganges".
The aerial display will feature fighter aircraft, including Tejas, Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand, SU-30MKI and Rafale, along with transport aircraft. Aircraft from the Indian Navy and the Indian Army will also participate, highlighting joint operational capabilities.
The IAF's premier display teams, including the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and the Sarang Helicopter Display Team, will showcase precision flying, coordination and operational excellence.
Meanwhile, a meeting to review preparations for the Prime Minister's welcome was held on Saturday at the BJP Metropolitan Area office in Gulab Bagh under the leadership of BJP National Secretary Jagdish Patel.
Patel urged party workers to actively participate in welcoming Modi and ensure the involvement of young people in the programme.
Metropolitan President Pradeep Agrahari said women would lead the welcome when the Prime Minister's helicopter lands at the Police Lines. A procession has been organised from the Police Lines through the Cultural Complex and Chowkaghat to Namo Ghat.
Regional President Ashok Chaurasia said the welcome programme would showcase Kashi's spiritual consciousness and rich cultural heritage.
Ministers Ravindra Jaiswal and Dayashankar Mishra 'Dayalu', MLC Ashwani Tyagi, MLAs Neelkanth Tiwari and Saurabh Srivastava, and other party functionaries attended the meeting.
